Intelligent video analytics keeps Kerakoll focused on making building products

The Kerakoll Group is a multinational company in the construction industry, offering an integrated range of products and services for building better places to live.

Kerakoll was established in 1968, in the heart of the Sassuolo ceramic district and began by producing ceramic tile adhesives. Today, the Group is divided into three business units focusing on the needs of laying, building and design.

Kerakoll is a Benefit Corporation. It obtained B Corp certification in 2023, confirming its journey towards a new environmental, social, and governance (ESG) business model generating economic, social and environmental value.

In early 2023, Kerakoll reached out to system integrator Elefondati because they needed to improve the security level of their site. They wanted to install a perimeter video surveillance system that would interact with anti-intrusion measures and promptly alert security personnel.

Elefondati collaborated with Bosch to conduct a site study, design a solution, and bring everything together. The solution combines 19 cameras with video analytics and easily integrates into the the intrusion security system and into the existing video management software from Arteco. The solution ensures complete coverage of the entire perimeter by linking video analysis rules with various types of behavior. Additionally, it provides flexible site management based on activity time slots and control of vehicles in transit.

Intelligent Video Analytics makes early, reliable detection possible under challenging environmental and lighting conditions, even in extreme weather. By eliminating false triggers, video analytics allow security operators to focus on alarms that matter. Intelligent Video Analytics enables long-distance intrusion detection in extreme weather conditions, making it ideal for perimeter applications.

For Kerakoll, the solution proposed and implemented was the answer to its needs: the reliability of the video analysis and the integration of the technologies made it possible to satisfy the initial requirements, which had not been met by the previous systems installed. After a few months of operation and testing, Kerakoll is implementing the solution on its other sites.
