A safe view of the Acropolis from the roof of the Athens Capital Hotel

For nearly 100 years, Athens Capital Hotel has hosted the rich and famous during their stays in the Greek capital. With guest safety and compliance with European norms front and center, the hotel decided to upgrade the historic structure with a future-proof, cost-effective public address and voice alarm system.

PRAESENSA, featuring a smart power concept and easy to integrate into existing infrastructure, was a natural choice.

Advanced, cost-effective system

The hotel required an efficient solution that would meet European norms and elevate the guest experience. For mid- to large-sized applications, PRAESENSA provided an advanced, fully IP-based PAVA system that:

  • Lowers the cost of ownership thanks to a smart-power concept and integrated redundancy.
  • Is ideal for both centralized and decentralized network topologies.
  • Can use existing cabling and IT network infrastructure for easy installation and cost savings.

Overrides TV audio in case of an emergency

To enhance the guest experience, each guest room is equipped with a loudspeaker and a room controller that’s connected to the TV. The room controller is operated and monitored by the PAVA system. In case of an emergency, the system overrides the TV audio to deliver evacuation messages to guests.

Systems integrator behind the project Simon Technologies S.A. is proud of the results.

Today, Athens Capital Hotel can ensure guest safety with a modern emergency address system that perfectly fits the hotel’s luxury style.

The solution allowed us to satisfy the needs of the customer with much less equipment – specifically the number of amplifiers – and with the latest technologies by using the existing IT structure of the hotel.

The PAVA solution at a glance

  • PRASENSA the PAVA solution for the Athens Captial Hotel
  • PRASENSA system station

The project primarily followed a typical hotel voice alarm system, with design, cabling and installation in accordance with European norms. Based on the PRAESENSA Public Address and Voice Alarm System (PAVA), the solution consists of:

  • A system controller
  • Four desktop LCD call stations and one wall-mount LCD call station, each with call station extensions
  • Eight 8-channel 600W amplifiers

The amplifiers drive the entire PAVA system to broadcast emergency messages to nearly 600 loudspeakers deployed throughout the hotel, including all public spaces, hallways, restaurants, the basement, and individual guest rooms.
