Bosch fire detectors for a new era

This functionality enhances the accuracy and reliability of fire detectors, reduces false alarms, and improves response times. ISP Technology continually pre-processes all sensor signals with dedicated internal evaluation electronics. Algorithms trained on over 5,000 real fire patterns correlate and analyze the data from the signals through a built-in microprocessor. This allows factors that could generate false alarms to be filtered out as harmless, while quickly identifying signs of a real fire.

The variants of the AVENAR detectors 4000 series are equipped with the appropriate combinations of optical, thermal, and chemical sensors:

• The optical sensor utilizes scattered-light technology to identify smoke particles.
• The thermal sensor measures temperature fluctuations and heat spikes.
• The chemical sensor detects gases, such as carbon monoxide.

The variants of the AVENAR detector 4000 series with dual-optical sensors offer the benefits of innovative Dual Ray Technology. The principle of Mie scattering is applied to measure smoke density and particle size by comparing the scattered light from two different wavelengths of LED sources, one infrared and one blue. Combined with Bosch’s advanced fire-detection algorithm, this technology can distinguish even minute smoke particles from other (harmless) particles such as dust and steam. The result is earlier and more reliable fire detection with fewer false alarms. The dual wavelength sensors can also cover larger areas, reducing costs and simplifying planning, as fewer devices are needed.

Modern buildings are now typically equipped with multiple electrical sources, WiFi, and routers for the use of desktop and handheld devices. This increases the risk of electromagnetic pollution, which can interfere with the efficient operation of fire safety systems. The AVENAR detector 4000 series e-Smog feature enhances robustness against disturbances by identifying and mitigating interference from invisible sources, such as mobile phones and escalators. The feature continuously measures electromagnetic exposure of the detectors and predicts where thresholds could be exceeded. E-Smog thus improves stability and detection performance while notably reducing nuisance alarms.

All Bosch fire detectors are equipped with certified short-circuit isolators as a standard attribute. In the event of a disruption to wiring connections or a short circuit, the integrated isolators maintain the functional security of the Local Security Network (LSN) loop. The unique LSN bus system by Bosch connects multiple fire safety system devices with a single loop, ensuring 100% fault tolerance through the advanced loop technology. This increases the reliability of the detectors while also making the the integrated solution highly cost effective.

All of the detectors in the series feature a chamber maid plug – a dust-repellent labyrinth and cap construction. The base of this plug allows the optical chamber to be easily cleared of dust particles using compressed air. The straightforward maintenance design improves the detector’s lifespan and optimizes fire safety.

Bosch fire detectors are equipped with several smart features that elevate operational efficiency. For instance, the central LED, which is visible from all angles in point-type detectors, facilitates and accelerates the entire installation process.

Each detector in the series includes a detector lock, providing security against unauthorized access This lock can be activated as needed, protecting the system from tampering — such as attempts by smokers to disable a detector in a hotel room — as well as from theft and vandalism. As a result, system faults are reduced, ensuring increased fire safety and continuous, uninterrupted operation.

AVENAR detectors are fully adjustable to meet the needs and requirements of each particular premises. This even includes personalized aesthetics: the detectors can be painted in individual colors to match an application or blend with a building’s interior décor, thanks to the Bosch VdS-approved painting process.

The innovative FAP-425-DOTCO-R variant of the AVENAR detector 4000 series has an extended CO-cell lifespan of 10 years. This makes it extremely durable, and an improvement compared to previous detector models.
