Analog solution falls short on quality of announcements
Warsaw Chopin Airport (EPWA), operated by Polish Airports State Enterprise PPL, is the biggest airport in Poland and one of the most important hubs in central and eastern Europe. Every year, more than 17 million passengers pass through the airport, which is also the base for Poland’s flag carrier, LOT.
With the former public address system, airport staff used an analog call station to make announcements that were then transmitted to wall-mounted, standard-quality loudspeakers. Since the analog technology was inadequate for the challenging acoustic architecture of the airport building, passengers were often left unsure about the status of their boarding process.
Digital solution for precise information and guidance
The new public address and voice alarm system is based on the digital PRAESENSA solution. It was integrated into the airport’s existing IP and wiring system, thereby significantly reducing the time for installation.
- Ceiling-mounted hemi-directional loudspeakers ensure that announcements are precisely delivered to the passengers at a particular gate
- Text-to-speech functionality
