AVENAR IO module 4000 series: Smart and versatile connectivity for a seamless fire alarm response
The AVENAR IO module 4000 series comprises new Bosch interface modules to optimize and customize the efficiency and robustness of fire detection solutions across multiple applications
Why we need Interface modules
Fire detection systems are usually connected to other building systems, like fire dampers, signaling devices, and fire doors. Each building is unique, so the specific needs for how these systems connect can differ. Interface modules help fire safety managers ensure that all connected systems work together effectively when a fire alarm goes off.
When a fire breaks out, combined efficiency of all relevant response systems is vital to ensuring a safe and smooth evacuation of personnel, rapid containment of flames and smoke, and measures to support business continuity and protect valuable business assets. Input/output (IO) modules facilitate a prompt and coordinated response to a fire by providing the interactive link between all devices and systems from one central point. They also assist safety managers with continual monitoring of operations across an entire premises and diagnostics for identifying the source of a fire or system interference – all while fire detectors and alarms are kept up and running.
Interface module applications
There are diverse use cases for including IO modules in the fire safety solution for a premises, from overseeing special fire detectors to ensure they will alert the fire alarm panel if signs of fire are detected, to controlling the locks and release mechanism of electronic doors. The monitoring and control of dampers, sprinkler systems and signaling devices, besides other fire safety functions, also benefit from the integration of interface modules. Bosch addresses this need with the latest addition to the cutting-edge AVENAR portfolio: The AVENAR IO module 4000 series.
AVENAR IO module 4000 series: Multi-application, smart and compact
Bosch has adopted the latest technology in interface modules to work seamlessly with AVENAR fire detectors and other Bosch fire safety solutions. The input-output module is a valuable addition to fire safety in every kind of premises:
The AVENAR IO 4000 module can be integrated to increase efficiency in multiple fire safety applications. This offers flexibility for planning a fast fire alarm response, including the control, operation and monitoring of facilities such as fire exits, sprinkler systems and dampers.
Thanks to its configurable software, the AVENAR IO module 4000 enhances security and provides tailored solutions. In the event of a fieldbus failure or power loss, the module features a fail-safe option that allows users to control how devices respond, ensuring that safety standards are maintained. Additionally, its configurable software enables improved digital connectivity between a building's devices.
The interface modules feature a modern, compact design which saves space in tight installation points like cabinets and boiler rooms. The IO modules are optimized with easy cabling and for simple installation on DIN rails. Plus, their low energy consumption means more devices can be included within one loop.
Besides all these advantages of the AVENAR IO 4000 series, the interface module can be scaled and tailored for installation and mounting according to the layout and available space on each premises. For instance, the module can be installed within its compact housing or mounted on DIN rails for a narrow or wider installation. Strain relief in the housing supports system integrators with easy and highly efficient device fitting and connectivity. In addition, compatible DIN clips and cables for loop wiring can be ordered as extras to further simplify mounting of the IO module.
Connectivity and diagnostics data
Transparency and the efficient operation of all relevant systems and devices is essential for the fastest possible fire alarm response and ongoing system monitoring and maintenance. The smart technology powering AVENAR IO FLM-430-I2M1 generates various data sets which assist safety managers with system health monitoring and diagnostics. The status of the interface module and its specific input and output functions can be clearly and reliably assessed. User-friendly traffic-light colored LEDs visually convey the status of system health of the IO module and connected applications, so any system errors and required maintenance can be identified and located easily.
And, although Bosch fire detectors are already highly robust against EMC disturbances, the input-output module can continually check and produce alerts for unplanned spikes in EMC data values. This is particularly helpful in challenging applications with higher risks of interruption to the dependable functionality of a fire detection system, such as radiology rooms and other healthcare settings and industrial sites.
